Pink ladies take over backpacker ally

Last night Stephanie and I got a babysitter for our babysitting gig and hit the town. We love the kids but sometimes you just need a break. It felt like we were parents, saying goodnight to the kids at five o'clock in the late afternoon and hopping into the family car. The driver took us to the night market, saving us some money that we would have spent on a taxi ride.

The night market was amazing. Tiny little shops filled the streets and knock-off Tiffany necklaces shouted to me from their stalls. I dragged Stephanie to every store and made her wait as I tried on a million pairs of shoes. Even though I didn't buy any, I found a cute little retro dress that looks similar to something I imagine my mom wore in her high school years. A new bag completed the look and I didn't leave without giving into the echoing Tiffany sounds.

"Can you make it more shiny?" I asked the Thai man selling the cheap knock-offs.

Our feet finally gave in and we found a beer garden to rest and grab a drink. It was the first beer garden I had been too, and I celebrated by ordering a pink lady.

Afterward we hailed a taxi to Khao San. Stephanie's roommate Brain first told me about it and ever since I have started calling it "Backpacker Ally." It's the place where all the foreigners and backpackers go for a beer and dread lock hair-dos. I prefer the new name and I'm hoping some day it will catch on.

It turned out to be an early night for us old ladies. We got home just in time to tuck the oldest into bed and take on the role of responsibility once again.
